This past week, I heard the news about the passing of Hugh Hefner. You couldn’t miss it.
What I was surprised at was the lack of criticism from the right or the left. Many popular news outlets talked about his life like a happy recap of a Mad Men episode. “Oh that old rascal, Don Draper.”
Hugh Hefner was a callous, con man. He created the myth of “the playboy.” A rich man, who lived in his pajamas, worshipped by beautiful women. He sold his myth like Phillip Morris sold the Marlboro Man.
It was sex without consequences. Where women give without taking and never grow old. And we bought into it one masturbation session at a time.
In this episode, I discuss his legacy and the “obviously wicked and destructive things” he left behind.
