Jason Portnoy grew up in shadow of his parent’s divorce in the suburbs of New Jersey.
He went to Colorado for chemical engineering. It was in grad school, at Stanford, that he had a chance interview with Peter Thiel over breakfast. This meeting would change the trajectory of his life.
He soon found himself in the middle of the PayPal Mafia working with the likes of Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Reid Hoffman, and Max Levchin. What followed was a Silicon Valley career of wealth and prestige he never dreamed of. He had stock options, a Ferrari, and an amazing family.
On the outside, his life looked perfect, but unhealed traumas from his past left him tortured; descending into a dark world of pornography and sex that eventually pushed him to the edge.
In this episode, we focus on some of the main things Jason learned in his healing process. His new memoir, Silicon Valley Porn Star, shares his road to healing from porn and sex addiction in the midst of silicon valley success.
